Achievements

  • Successfully developed and implemented commercial strategies and expanded market growth, including overseeing the opening of Crystal Lagoons in Asia, developing strategic liaisons between real estate companies in East Asia (South Korea, Japan, Taiwan).
  • Increased brand awareness for Crystal Lagoons among the most important real estate developers in the region, and identified more than 40 business opportunities in Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, Indonesia, Sir Lanka, South Korea, Japan, Maldives and the Philippines. Generated 20 real business opportunities in 9 of the 14 countries under stewardship, within a 20-month period. The forecast is to have at least 2 projects signed on 2017, and 60 ongoing projects in Asia within 6 years. Set up a brand-new office in Bangkok, Thailand, and secured agreements with key real estate developers.
  • Co-partner in the start-up Paralelo 33, a business food platform representing a Chilean winery and a premium juice producer, as well as a Middle Eastern food importer in ASEAN.
  • Set up a new office in Thailand and led the Chilean Economic Promotion Bureau in ASEAN, managing and coordinating the offices in Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.
  • Created and implemented the Chilean commercial strategy to ASEAN for 5 years, supporting Chilean companies to expand their business in all ASEAN countries. Created and developed an important network with the most relevant importers in the region such as Makro, Big C, The Mall Group, Siam Winery, Cold Storage, Fair Price, Dairy Farm Group, Tesco, Metro and Giant, among others.
  • Organised 2 VIP commercial delegations led by Chile’s President (2012 Vietnam and 2014 Thailand). Managed key trade events in Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia (2009 to 2015).
  • Supported and participated in Chile’s Free Trade Agreement negotiation with Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia. Permanently organized business trips for Chilean delegations to Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Brunei Darussalam.
  • Led the penetration of Chilean wine in ASEAN, generating sales of more than USD 30 million. During his tenure as Trade Commissioner, Chilean wine also jumped from 4th to 1st place in terms of volume, and to 2nd in terms of value (USD 10 million) in the region.
  • Led the development of the Halal industry in Chile, including the entire process to get ChileHalal certified by Jakim, in Malaysia, and ULAMA, in Indonesia.
  • In the fishing sector, introduced Chilean mussels into ASEAN, achieving imports of 600+ tons in 3 years.
  • Worked in several FAO projects for the quality improvement of catch on board fishing. Conducted research to add value by developing new processed food as an addition to exporting only raw fish and seafood and fish meal.
